- OUR HISTORY SINCE YEAR 2012
Our Academy utilizes soccer as a medium to train, equip, mentor, and empower children, both boys and girls, from communities deeply affected by poverty in Zambia. We instill essential skills in our participants, including respect, communication, and teamwork, which have significantly benefited them both on and off the sports field.
Our sports academy has successfully impacted children from challenging backgrounds, guiding them toward peaceful integration with their peers. We have observed notable improvements in their behavior and performance, both in soccer and in their academic pursuits. We prioritize ensuring that our players recognize their value and realize their God-given potential, motivating them to excel in their studies. We consistently monitor and follow up on their academic performance.
Our approach has proven effective, keeping many children off the streets and out of trouble. Our programs welcome all children without discrimination. We are actively challenging the negative cycles that undermine the importance of education. In many parts of Africa, talented young athletes often view education as optional, opting instead for sports. At PSA, we focus on teaching our players the importance of balancing athletic participation with educational achievement. We serve children aged 8 to 20 years.
In 2012, we launched our academy, entering the amateur league in Lusaka. We were pleasantly surprised to see our team dominate the competition. By 2014, we achieved promotion to the Lusaka Football Association (LFA) league, largely due to our ability to attract children from underprivileged communities who often lack other forms of entertainment.
A few years later, we were promoted to the FAZ League, where we performed exceptionally well, advancing to FAZ Division 3. Currently, our boys' team competes in Division 4, while our girls' team will plays in Division 2 once we find a sponsor. This progress has contributed to the physical, mental, and social strength of our teams. As a testament to our success, several of our players, including Gloire Kubuntu, Vickson Mwale, and Kalebo Wimbabazi, who trained at our soccer academy, received acceptance to pursue their studies in Sweden and Malaysia, playing soccer for their respective colleges as well.
Our boys adapted remarkably well abroad, making our academy proud. Our sports academy has opened the eyes of many disadvantaged boys and girls, helping them realize that their talents can lead to significant opportunities in esteemed colleges and universities around the world through full sports scholarship programs. We take great pride in Gloire, Kalebo, and Vickson and are honored to run this program, which serves as a vital vehicle for shaping our students' futures. We are fortunate to have dedicated coaches and staff members who contribute highly to our mission.
