Gabriel and Melissa Mwamba are the visionary leaders behind one of the most impactful and rapidly growing sports programs in Zambia — Precision Sports Academy (PSA). Together, they mentor and lead a dedicated team of highly qualified coaches who train and empower underprivileged boys and girls through the transformative power of sport.

Operating across five provinces in Zambia, PSA reaches over 700 children daily with structured training sessions in soccer, baseball, and life skills. These programs do far more than develop athletic talent — they provide a safe haven, keeping children off the streets, out of trouble, and engaged in purposeful, character-building activities.

PSA’s mission is deeply rooted in the belief echoed by Nelson Mandela, who said:

“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to inspire. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does.”
 

As the academy continues to grow, it now welcomes mission teams, volunteer coaches, and educators from around the world. These passionate volunteers are helping expand PSA’s reach, bringing hope, skills, and transformation to hundreds of children each day.

Through sport, mentorship, and a strong sense of community, the Mwamba's and their team are changing lives — one child, one game, one opportunity at a time.

•  Precision Sports Academy (PSA) runs soccer program to vulnerable kids in various parts of Zambia. The Soccer Academy is using soccer and has to train, equip, mentor & empower kids (boys and girls) from communities stricken by abject Poverty in Zambia, Africa. We teach our participants on issues of mental health and valuable life skills, such as respect, communication, and teamwork that has benefited them greatly both on and off the field.   Our soccer academy has been able to impact kids from troubled backgrounds, helping them learn to integrate peacefully with others. We have seen an improvement in behavior and their performance both on the soccer field and in their schools. We ensure that our players are academically sound, so we encourage our boys and girls to put forth their best in their   schoolwork. We consistently follow up and check their performance in school. Our approach has so far proven fruitful and has kept many kids off of the streets and out of trouble. We are breaking the odds and negative cycles of thinking about education. In Africa, many times, kids who are very talented at soccer or other sports in general believe that education is just an option. They would rather chose athletics over education. At PSA, we are teaching our players to find a balance and learn to accommodate both sport participation and education.

GIRLS PROGRAMS – Empowering Through Sport and Education

At Precision Sports Academy, our soccer fields are more than places to play — they are safe spaces where girls can connect, express themselves, and develop essential life and leadership skills.

Guided by our committed female coaches, participants benefit from a well-rounded program that includes:

• Teenage pregnancy prevention education
   
• Hands-on vocational and life skills training
   
• Interactive HIV/AIDS awareness workshops
   
• Fair play soccer sessions
   
• Peer-led community outreach activities
   

This holistic approach demonstrates that our academy is about far more than sport — it’s a platform for real, lasting change. We've cultivated a culture that equips girls and adolescent young women with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to take ownership of their health, rights, and future.

Through participation in athletics, our girls are breaking through limiting gender stereotypes and reshaping how they view themselves and their potential — one game at a time.

In Zambia, most soccer academies require participants to pay monthly fees to cover operational costs — a reality that excludes many talented and underprivileged children from accessing structured sports training.

At Precision Sports Academy (PSA), we do things differently.

We are deeply committed to providing high-quality soccer training completely free of charge to children from low-income and high-risk communities across Zambia. Our goal is to ensure that no child is left behind simply because of financial hardship.

While this mission lies at the heart of everything we do, it also places a significant financial burden on our academy as we strive to cover the cost of:

• Equipment and uniforms
   
• Field maintenance and facility rentals
   
• Coaching staff stipends
   
• Transportation and meals for participants
   
• Expanding programs to underserved regions
   

We currently serve youth from:

• Kamanga, Mutendere, and Kaunda Square in Lusaka
   
• Kansuswa, Mufulira in Copperbelt Province
   

We are also working toward opening a new center in Kitwe, where many vulnerable children are in need of structured support and mentorship.
